Effective: April 28, 2026 (v1)
When you create a PillsCard account, you accept this Communications & Consent agreement together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It explains what messages we may send you and how to control them.
These emails are required for the account to function and you cannot opt out of them while your account is active:
• Email verification, password resets, security alerts (suspicious sign-ins).
• Critical drug-safety information related to a medication you have saved to favorites or marked as "taking now" — e.g. an EMA / FDA recall, a Black Box warning update, or a regulator-issued alert that materially affects safety.
• Material changes to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, or this Communications & Consent document.
• Operational notifications you have explicitly requested (e.g. "notify me when this drug is back in stock" subscriptions).
If you opt in, we send a periodic digest covering:
• New medications added to PillsCard relevant to your country / language.
• Editorial articles published by our PharmD team — drug guides, condition explainers, interaction warnings.
• Feature announcements (new tools, new languages, mobile app).
• General drug-safety bulletins of public interest.
Frequency: at most once per week. You can unsubscribe with a single click in any newsletter, or in your account Settings → Preferences.
Legal basis: PillsCard is registered in Poland, so all electronic marketing communications are governed by (a) Article 13 of the EU ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, (b) Article 10 of the Polish Act on Electronic Services (UŚUDE) of 18 July 2002, and (c) Article 172 of the Polish Telecommunications Act. Each of these requires PRIOR, EXPLICIT, SEPARATE consent before any commercial information may be sent by email — independent of newsletter consent. National implementations of ePrivacy in your own EU/EEA country (e.g., Germany TMG/DSGVO, France LCEN, etc.) provide equivalent protection.
Only if you separately opt in to marketing communications, we may also send:
• Promotions from verified pharmacies in your country (discounts on OTC drugs, supplements).
• Affiliate partner offers — supplements, vitamins, OTC products from networks we work with (AWIN, iHerb, CJ).
• Surveys for clinical user research, with explicit opt-in per study.
• B2B offers if your account is registered as a Business (see Section 5).
Frequency: at most twice per month. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Preferences without losing access to the service.
We may use the following signals to make messages more relevant: country (for regional drug recalls), language preference, drugs in your favorites list, condition tags you've added, and the locale chosen in the navigation.
We do not profile based on health data inferred from search history, and we never sell, lease or share your email address with advertisers or data brokers.
If you register as a Business (pharmacy, vet clinic, lab, etc.), we may additionally send:
• Lead notifications when a customer enquires about your business via our directory.
• Subscription renewal reminders for paid tiers (BASIC / PRO / ENTERPRISE).
• Platform-feature announcements relevant to business owners.
These business-specific messages can be turned off independently in your business account settings.
You can withdraw any non-mandatory consent at any time:
• Settings → Preferences → toggle Newsletter / Marketing.
• "Unsubscribe" link in every promotional email.
• Email partners@pillscard.com to revoke all promotional consent.
Withdrawal does not affect mandatory service messages or any messages already sent.
Service messages: contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Newsletter: explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Marketing: explicit, separate consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR + ePrivacy Directive Article 13).
Consent records: stored for 26 months from the last consent action and retained while we have a legitimate interest in proving compliance with GDPR Article 7(1).
Under GDPR you can request: access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20), and object to processing (Art. 21). To exercise any right, email partners@pillscard.com — we respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority of your country.
