Dorzolamide/timolol, sold under the brand nameCosoptamong others, is a medication used to treathigh pressure inside the eyeincludingglaucoma.It is a combination ofdorzolamidehydrochloride andtimololmaleate.It may be used when abeta blocker, like timolol, is not sufficient alone.It is used as an eye drop.
Common side effects include eye discomfort, eye redness, taste changes, and blurry vision.Serious side effects may includeallergic reactionsandheart failure.Use is not recommended in those withasthma, asulfonamide allergy, or aslow heart rate.Dorzolamide is acarbonic anhydrase inhibitorand timolol is a beta blocker.Both work by decreasing the amount ofaqueous humormade by theeye.
