Fesoterodine(INN, used as thefumarateunder the brand nameToviaz) is anantimuscarinicdrug developed bySchwarz Pharma AGto treatoveractive bladder syndrome(OAB).It was approved by theEuropean Medicines Agencyin April 2007,the USFood and Drug Administrationon October 31, 2008andHealth Canadaon February 9, 2012.
Fesoterodine is aprodrug. It is broken down into its active metabolite,desfesoterodine, by plasmaesterases.
⚠️ Warnings
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of slow or weak urine stream, constipation, stomach problem, muscle weakness, or liver or kidney disease, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
• Drink plenty of water, to avoid becoming overheated in hot weather.
• Patient may develop with increased risk of severe allergic reactions; if it is so consult with your doctor.
