Zolpidem

Zolpidem is a sleep-promoting and sedative agent from the class of hypnotics used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders.‍​‍‍‍​‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍​‍ It facilitates sleep onset and increases total sleep time. Its effects are mediated through binding to GABAA receptors in the central nervous system. The most common possible adverse effects include central nervous system disturbances and gastrointestinal complaints. Zolpidem can cause physical and psychological dependence and is metabolized by CYP3A4. Zolpidem (ATC N05CF02) has sleep-promoting and sedative properties. It facilitates sleep onset and increases total sleep time. Its effects are based on binding to the GABAA receptor in the central nervous system.
