Common side effects includeconstipation,abdominal pain, andnausea.Serious side effects may includeosteoporosis,low blood magnesium,Clostridioides difficileinfection, andpneumonia.Use inpregnancyandbreastfeedingis of unclear safety.It works by blockingH+/K+-ATPasein theparietal cellsof the stomach.
