Posaconazole is indicated for use in the treatment of the following invasive fungal infections in patients 13 years of age or older:
Invasive aspergillosis in patients intolerant of, or with disease that is refractory to, alternative therapy.
Fusariosis, zygomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, chromoblastomycosis, and mycetoma in patients intolerant of, or with disease that is refractory to, alternative therapy.,Posaconazole is also indicated for the:
Prophylaxis of invasive fungal infections among patients 13 years of age and older, who are at high risk of developing these infections, such as patients with prolonged neutropenia or haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients.
⚠️ Warnings
• Caution is required in patients with a history of electrolyte disturbances, diarrhea, vomiting, liver, kidney, or heart problems, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
• It may cause dizziness or blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
• It does not cure viral or bacterial infections.
• Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise, it may cause the secondary infection.
• Monitor blood sugar, liver function, and heart function regularly while taking this medication.
• Extreme caution is needed for children less than 13 years old.
