Commonside effectsincludediarrhea, vomiting, andallergic reactions.It also increases the risk ofyeast infections, headaches, andblood clotting problems.It is not recommended in people with a history of apenicillin allergy.It is relatively safe for use during pregnancy. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid was approved for medical use in the United States in 1984.It is on theWorld Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines.The World Health Organization classifies amoxicillin/clavulanic-acid as critically important for human medicine.It is available as a generic medication.In 2023, it was the 66th most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than 9million prescriptions.
