Aspar Espefa Premium is an oral tablet combination of potassium hydrogen aspartate 250 mg and magnesium hydrogen aspartate 250 mg, providing approximately 54 mg of elemental K+ and 17 mg of elemental Mg2+ per tablet. The aspartate anion functions as a transmembrane carrier that facilitates the entry of potassium and magnesium ions into intracellular compartments, particularly into myocytes and cardiomyocytes. Both ions are essential for membrane resting potential, action-potential repolarisation, neuromuscular transmission, and cardiac conduction. ATC class A12CX (other mineral supplements). This combination is widely used to correct mild concurrent K+/Mg2+ deficits — a clinically common pattern, particularly during diuretic therapy.
⚠️ Warnings
Monitor plasma potassium, magnesium and creatinine in patients with renal impairment, on RAAS-blocking therapy, or on potassium-sparing diuretics. Avoid concomitant unsupervised potassium supplementation. Take after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Ensure adequate hydration. Do not use as a substitute for measured-electrolyte correction in severe symptomatic deficits. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: considered safe at recommended doses. The dose should be reduced or the product discontinued if hyperkalaemia symptoms develop (paraesthesia, muscle weakness, ECG changes).
