Pregnancy Pregnancy: Bendamustine should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. Driving Driving: Patients should be advised to avoid potentially hazardous tasks, such as driving and operating machinery, if they experience these symptoms. Breastfeeding Breastfeeding: Bendamustine is contraindicated during breastfeeding. It is very important that your doctor monitors your progress at regular visits to ensure that Bendamustine is working properly.‍​‍‍‍​‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍​‍ Blood tests may be needed to check for unwanted effects. Using Bendamustine while pregnant may harm the unborn baby. Use an effective form of birth control to avoid becoming pregnant while taking Bendamustine and for up to 3 months after stopping it. If you think you have become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor immediately. Bendamustine may temporarily reduce the number of white blood cells in your blood, increasing the chance of getting an infection (e.g., pneumonia). It may also reduce the number of platelets, which are necessary for proper blood clotting. If this occurs, there are certain precautions you can take, especially when your blood count is low, to reduce the risk of infection or bleeding: – If possible, avoid contact with people who have infections. – Tell your doctor immediately if you think you are getting an infection or if you have fever or chills, cough or hoarseness, lower back or side pain, pain or difficulty urinating, shortness of breath, bleeding, or bruising. – Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any unusual bleeding or bruising, black tarry stools, blood in urine or stools, or pinpoint red spots on the skin. – Take care when using a regular toothbrush, dental floss, or toothpick. Your doctor, dentist, or nurse may recommend other ways to clean your teeth and gums. Check with your doctor before having any dental work done. – Do not touch your eyes or the inside of your nose unless you have just washed your hands and have not touched anything else in the meantime. – Be careful not to cut yourself when using sharp objects such as a razor or nail clippers. Bendamustine may cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you experience chills, fever, hives, hoarseness, itching, skin rash, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or any swelling of the hands, face, or mouth after receiving this medicine. Bendamustine may cause a serious condition called tumour lysis syndrome. Your doctor may give you a medicine to help prevent this. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience a decrease or change in urine output, joint pain, stiffness or swelling, lower back or side pain, stomach pain, rapid weight gain, swelling of the feet or legs, or unusual tiredness or weakness. Severe skin reactions may occur during treatment with Bendamustine. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop a skin rash or blisters while taking Bendamustine. Bendamustine may cause some people to feel abnormally tired or weak. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform tasks that may be hazardous while using Bendamustine. Anticancer medicines may cause diarrhoea, nausea, or vomiting in most people, sometimes even after receiving medicines to prevent these effects. Talk to your doctor or nurse about other ways to manage these side effects.
