Betahistine

Betahistine is an active substance belonging to the group of antivertigo agents, used for the treatment of vertigo and Ménière's disease.‍‍‍‍‍‍​​​‍​​​​​​ It is an agonist at histamine H1 receptors and an antagonist at histamine H3 receptors, promoting blood flow in the inner ear and the brain. The tablets are usually taken two to three times daily with meals. The most common possible adverse effects include nausea, dyspepsia, and headache. Betahistine (ATC N07CA01) has antivertigo and blood flow–promoting properties in the inner ear and brain. It is a partial agonist at the histamine H1 receptor and a partial antagonist at the histamine H3 receptor and, unlike histamine, also crosses the blood-brain barrier.
