This compound is a modification of the older drugtacrine(Cognex). Ipidacrine is a reversibleacetylcholinesterase inhibitorused in memory disorders of different origins. Ipidacrine directly stimulates impulse transmission in thecentral nervous systemand neuromuscular synapses by blocking membranepotassium channels. Ipidacrine enhances not onlycholine, but alsoadrenaline,serotonin,histamine, andoxytocineffects on smooth muscle.
