XPOVIO is indicated:, In combination with bortezomib and dexamethasone for the treatment of adult patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior therapy., In combination with dexamethasone for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) who have received at least three prior therapies and whose disease is refractory to at least one proteasome inhibitor, at least one immunomodulatory medicinal product (IMiD), and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody (mAb).
⚠️ Warnings
• Monitor platelet count and neutrophil count before and during treatment with Selinexor. The dose should be stopped or adjusted accordingly.
• Gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, weight loss, anorexia, and diarrhea can occur hence, antiemetics like aprepitant, dolasetron, ondansetron should be given before each dose. The dose should be stopped or adjusted according to the symptoms.
• Decreased sodium levels can occur during therapy hence, sodium levels should be monitored. Hyperglycemia and high serum paraprotein levels should be corrected.
• Signs and symptoms of infections should be monitored and treated.
• Do not take Selinexor with other medications likesilodosin, scopolamine, benazepril, antiepileptic drugs that can dizziness or confusion.
• Do not operate heavy machinery after taking Selinexor. To avoid dizziness or confusion, optimize hydration status, blood count and concomitant medications.
• Selinexor can cause fetal harm. Hence, females of reproductive potential should use effective contraception. Males with female partners who can get pregnant should use effective contraception.
• During treatment with Selinexor, inform your healthcare provider if bruising or bleeding occurs.
• Before taking Selinexor inform your healthcare provider about recent infections and bleeding problems.
• Patients should inform their doctors about all the medications they take including herbal medications, OTC products, and vitamin supplements.
