Bromazepam is a long-acting agent from the benzodiazepine class with anxiolytic and sedative properties. It is used for the treatment of anxiety and tension states of various origins. The tablets are taken one to three times daily. The duration of treatment should be kept as short as possible. The most common possible adverse effects include fatigue, sedation, dizziness, drowsiness, hypotension, impaired concentration, and impaired reaction time. Like all benzodiazepines, bromazepam can cause dependence and may be misused as an intoxicant.
Bromazepam (ATC N05BA08) has anxiolytic, sedative, and depressant properties. Its effects are based on binding to GABA-A receptors and enhancement of GABAergic inhibition. Bromazepam has a long half-life of approximately 20 hours.
