Pharmacotherapeutic group: cold and cough preparations; expectorants, excluding combinations with antitussives, ATC code: R05CA10
Mechanism of action:
The mechanism of action has not yet been identified.
Clinical efficacy and safety:
A randomised, placebo-controlled clinical study demonstrated the efficacy of 10-day treatment with a herbal medicinal product of essentially the same composition as Bronchipret thyme and ivy in adult patients with acute bronchitis with productive cough. Overall, treatment led to faster and more comprehensive recovery from symptoms (coughing fits, Bronchitis Severity Score, etc.). A 50% reduction in coughing fits was, for example, achieved approximately 2 days earlier compared to placebo. Oral treatment was safe and well tolerated.
The safety and efficacy of Bronchipret thyme and ivy is supported by data from non-interventional studies.
