Mometasone furoate is an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic active substance from the glucocorticoid group, used for the treatment of inflammatory and non-infectious skin conditions. The medications are generally applied once daily. The duration of treatment should not exceed two to three weeks. The most common possible adverse effects include local skin reactions. Improper use may lead to skin changes. The active substance is also administered as an inhalation and in the form of a nasal spray for the treatment of asthma and conditions of the nasal mucosa.
Mometasone furoate (ATC D07AC13) has potent anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, and immunosuppressive properties. Its effects are based on binding to the intracellular glucocorticoid receptor.
