( ARTG ) Parental administration of calcium is indicated in the treatment of hypocalcaemia where rapid increase in plasma calcium is required, such as in hypocalcaemic tetany and tetany due to parathyroid deficiency. Intravenous calcium is also indicated to antagonise the cardiotoxicity of hyperkalaemia.
