Brimonidine is an active substance belonging to the group of selective α2-adrenoceptor agonists. It is used in the form of eye drops for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure. The drops are administered twice daily into the affected eyes. The most common adverse effects include local reactions at the eye. Despite topical administration, systemic side effects such as headache, drowsiness, and rarely cardiovascular disorders are possible.
