Basic Preventive 1 (Plus Iron And Copper) by Douglas Laboratories is a dietary supplement in the mineral category. Iron supplements, also known as iron salts and iron pills, are a number of iron formulations used to treat and prevent iron deficiency including iron-deficiency anemia. For prevention they are only recommended in those with poor absorption, heavy menstrual periods, pregnancy, hemodialysis, or a diet low in iron. Prevention may also be used in low birth weight babies. They are taken by mouth, injection into a vein, or injection into a muscle.

KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. WARNING: Accidental overdoes of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under the age of 6. Keep this product out of the reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately. Tamper resistant package, do not use if outer seal is missing. Warning: This product contains Vitamin K, which interferes with the prescription drugs Coumadin and Warfarin. Do not take this if taking either of these drugs.
