Basic Preventive 3 (Plus Iron) by Douglas Laboratories is a dietary supplement in the mineral category. Iron supplements, also known as iron salts and iron pills, are a number of iron formulations used to treat and prevent iron deficiency including iron-deficiency anemia. For prevention they are only recommended in those with poor absorption, heavy menstrual periods, pregnancy, hemodialysis, or a diet low in iron. Prevention may also be used in low birth weight babies. They are taken by mouth, injection into a vein, or injection into a muscle.

WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under the age of 6. Keep this product out of the reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately. This product contains Vitamin K, which intereferes with prescription blood-thinning drugs Coumadin and Warfarin. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Tamper resistant package, do not use if inner seal is missing. Do not take this product before consulting with your healthcare provider.
