Axicabtagene Ciloleucel is used for the treatment of adults with various recurrent or refractory (resistant to treatment) large B-cell lymphomas like diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma, high-grade B-cell lymphoma, and DLBCL arising from follicular lymphoma after trying at least two other kinds of treatment.
It is different from other cancer medicines because it is made from the patient’s white blood cells after modifying to recognize and attack lymphoma cells
⚠️ Warnings
Monitor for any allergic reactions during the infusion.
Monitor for signs and symptoms of infection.Monitor complete blood counts for any decrease in cell count.
• Monitor the levels of antibodies and provide replacement therapy in case of decreased globulins.
• If any secondary cancer (malignancy) occurs after treatment with axicabtagene, contact Kite at 1-844-454-KITE.
• Patients are advised to refrain from driving and engaging in dangerous activities such as handling dangerous machinery for at least eight weeks after receiving axicabtagene because it can cause drowsiness, confusion, weakness, memory and coordination problems.
• Blood, organs, tissues and cells donations should be avoided.
• Inform your doctor if you have any neurologic problems like seizures, stroke, or lung or heart or liver or kidney diseases and any recent or active infection.
